This week we come together as a Nation to celebrate Thanksgiving. To me this time of the year is magical.  We begin the month with honoring our veterans and then we come together and celebrate thanks, and this is the introduction to the holiday season. Depending on where you reside in the country for some you are getting your first snowfall, and for others, it is the first breath of fresh air from the summer heat, regardless the seasons have changed. I love seeing the holiday lights being hung on the trees and see the poinsettias around town. Families travel hundreds of miles to see one another and celebrate this beautiful holiday designed to give thanks. I have to imagine that our Nations first Thanksgiving was very different than how we celebrate today. There were no football games on; I doubt that they had the green bean casserole and of course they did not have the Macey’s day parade. But what they did was celebrate gratitude, giving and humility. Or at least that is what I [...]

There is always good news. I have to be honest when I first heard this comment; I was thinking okay great, whatever and thanks for the support but I don’t really see the good news. A very important man in my life lives by these words. Bill is my lover, my best friend and a very positive influence on me and my life. Bill is always smiling and has the best day ever… every day. So now I have grown to understand what he means when he says, “there is always good news.” You see, even when there is something bad that happens there is always good that happens. There is always a reason to have the best day ever. Here are 5 tips to have great news, stay happy and have the best day ever. Change your mindset to “there is always good news”. I know I am repeating this but it is true, really. Our days can be similar to a rollercoaster; we have ups and we have downs. We have great meetings, and we have a ton […]

Turquoise, Pink Bougainvillea, and The White Assali Dress As you know, I love the desert. Yes, it is hot but as a woman to be able to wear summer clothes and not be cold does not happen often. Living in San Diego, we have the perfect weather but as soon as the sun goes down or if we are in the shade, and a little breeze picks up we need something to cover our shoulders. Now I realize this is a champagne problem, and I hope you understand I am not complaining at all. My point is in San Diego we are always coordinating a pashmina or a jacket to go with our summer dresses or tank tops. So a weekend in the 100 degree heat with a sundress and no pashmina is a gift. Palm Springs is the Hollywood playground and weekend getaway for Southern Californians. It is just about 2 hours to Los Angeles and about the same to San Diego. People come to sip, splash and play. The glitz and glamor of Los Angeles have made the […]

I am the good fat!!!   I have a love affair with avocados. Living in San Diego, we are so lucky to be adjacent to the avocado capital, Fallbrook so that we can buy them year round for about $5.00 a bag. I love their creamy, nutty taste that goes with just about anything from a good sandwich to garnish on a bowl of chili. Besides the yummy taste did you know they are incredibly nutritious and have some surprising benefits like making you look good and even improving your sex life? Yep that is correct. Here is what happens when you eat avocados daily.   You mean eating Avocados will improve my looks? Yep!!! There are large amounts of antioxidants in avocados which means you body is receiving a ton of anti-aging nutrients.  To get more exact, your cells are receiving help with optimizing renewal and specifically your skin cells. Avocados contain high amounts of monounsaturated fat which is the “good fat” and according to the Mediterranean diet, consuming large amounts of [...]

So the funny thing is, that when I went to shoot this I could not find my bobby pins…lol! I went to the store to purchase them and I somehow misplaced them. I had to go digging through my purses and the cup holder in my car. The good news is I found some and I now have an official bobby pin pouch to keep my 99 bobby pins. I hope you are giggling when you read this because I am sure I am not the only girl with this problem, hence why I originally sought out this pouch.   BAG/POUCH: Jac Vanek |  SUNGLASSES: Seafolly | NAILPOLISH: Essie {similar Here}| LIPS: Sephora

  I know we are past the 4th of July but why stop celebrating the Red, White, and Blue?  This oversized Bonfire Sweater made by Mumu has been my favorite this summer. Now I know some of you can not even imagine wearing a sweater in the summer but for the other half of the population, we need something when the sun goes down or before the morning clouds clear up. As you will see from my Instagram, I have worn this with yoga pants, bikini’s and shorts. It does run oversized, and I am wearing a size small  {keep in mind I am 5’4”}.   I hate to be a buzzkill, but this sweater is temporarily sold out {sorry}!!!! But head over and click the notify me button so when the Mumu Bonfire Sweater is back you can be first on the list. I have also given you some alternative options you might even like better.   SWEATER: Mumu {options  Here and Here} | SUNGLASSES: Seafolly | HAT: purchased in Panama {Similar Here} NECKLACE: J-Crew 2 years ago, {Similar Here}

The last couple of nights I have found myself waking up in the middle of the night.  I am sure you all know the feeling when you wake up and then lie there for what feels like hours until you drift back to sleep only to hear the alarm go off a few minutes later. So frustrating. My heart goes out to the people who have this happen nightly. For those of you who know me personally you know that I am a great sleeper, I get anywhere between 9 – 11 hours of sleep, and if I am under my 9 hours, I will find the time to take a siesta. I thank my college days in Espana for teaching me all too well about the prominent siesta.   I took it upon myself to research why we don’t sleep as sound or ways to improve our sleep.  I found out that working out will improve your sleep. I know we all know that exercise is so good for our bodies, our minds, and an overall healthy lifestyle, but […]
