Giving Thanks

This week we come together as a Nation to celebrate Thanksgiving. To me this time of the year is magical.  We begin the month with honoring our veterans and then we come together and celebrate thanks, and this is the introduction to the holiday season. Depending on where you reside in the country for some you are getting your first snowfall, and for others, it is the first breath of fresh air from the summer heat, regardless the seasons have changed. I love seeing the holiday lights being hung on the trees and see the poinsettias around town. Families travel hundreds of miles to see one another and celebrate this beautiful holiday designed to give thanks. I have to imagine that our Nations first Thanksgiving was very different than how we celebrate today. There were no football games on; I doubt that they had the green bean casserole and of course they did not have the Macey’s day parade. But what they did was celebrate gratitude, giving and humility. Or at least that is what I would like to believe was what pilgrims foundation to their Thanksgiving.

As I continue to go deeper on a spiritual path, I spend my days intentionally being grateful for the gifts in my life. I have learned that by going through my day in a grateful mindset or a thankful mindset,  I am in a position to receive more gratitude and grace in my life. It is simple when you are filled with joy more joy wants to come to the party. Be thankful for what you have and guess what, you will have more!

Without getting too deep with the quick blog post, I ask you to look at what you are grateful for in your life. Remember there are wars going on, other countries are in turmoil and people are starving or fighting for their life. It is so easy to get caught up in what might feel like a problem or a concern or the case of I want more. But take some time to celebrate Thanksgiving and practice gratitude.

Here is what I am thankful for this season:

  1. I am thankful for you and your support of the podcast
  2. I am thankful for my health
  3. I am thankful for my epic love
  4. I am thankful to be spending this week with my family
  5. I am thankful to spend Thanksgiving with new friends and family

xoxo,

Alexandra
